Privacy Policy

• We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Ever.
• We do not store your IP address.
• We do not place advertising trackers or third-party marketing pixels on this site.
• Our usage analytics are first-party: the data stays in CREDO's own database and is not shared with an outside analytics company.
• The text of the questions you ask is never copied into our analytics records.

Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address, an encrypted authentication record, and an optional display name. You may use much of CREDO without an account.

Questions and answers. When you use the inquiry feature, the question you type and the answer returned to you are saved to your account so your conversations remain available when you return. These conversations are visible only to you. We do not read, review, or monitor them for ordinary service maintenance or product improvement. To generate an answer, your question is sent to our AI provider for processing. We do not attach your name or email address to that request.

Messages you send us. If you contact us for support or to report a problem, we keep that correspondence so we can respond and follow up.

To understand how CREDO is used and where it needs improvement, we run our own analytics. For each visit we record:

• Pages viewed and the order in which they were viewed.
• Time spent on a page and on the visit overall, measured only while the page is actually visible on your screen.
• Clicks on buttons and links, identified by the visible label of the item clicked.
• Which sections of CREDO were used — for example the Divine Office, the Bible, a catechism, or the daily readings.
• Your device type, browser, and operating system.
• The website or campaign that referred you, stored as the site name only (for example "google.com"), never the full address you came from.
• A random anonymous identifier stored in your browser, plus a session identifier that expires after thirty minutes of inactivity.

The anonymous identifier is a random string. It is not derived from your name, your email, or your device's hardware. If you later sign in, that identifier is associated with your account so we can tell a returning member from a new visitor.

What we deliberately leave out. Our analytics records do not contain IP addresses, the text of your questions, the content of any conversation, your email address, or your name.

CREDO uses your browser's local storage rather than advertising cookies. We store: a sign-in session token if you have an account, the anonymous and session identifiers described above, and your saved preferences such as the traditional or modern calendar setting, your bookmarks, and your highlights. Clearing your browser's site data for CREDO removes all of these.

• To operate your account and keep you signed in.
• To deliver the daily liturgical content, prayers, and answers you request.
• To measure which parts of CREDO are used, so we can improve them and retire what is not helpful.
• To understand how people discover CREDO, so we know where to invest our effort.
• To detect abuse, protect the service, and diagnose technical problems.

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not use the content of your questions to train any AI model.

CREDO relies on a small number of providers to function. They process data only to deliver their service to us:

• Our hosting and database provider, which stores accounts, conversations, and analytics records and serves the site.
• Our AI provider, which generates answers to the questions you submit.
• Public liturgical sources, which supply the daily office, Mass texts, martyrology, and calendar. Requests to these sources are made by our servers, not by your browser, so these sources do not see your device.

• Account information: for as long as your account is open.
• Conversations: until you delete them or close your account.
• Analytics records: retained in a rolling window and reported only in aggregate.
• Support correspondence: as long as needed to resolve the matter.

When you close your account, your profile and conversations are deleted. Aggregate counts that no longer identify you may remain in our usage totals.

• Access: request a copy of the information associated with your account.
• Correction: update your display name or email at any time.
• Deletion: ask us to close your account and delete your conversations.
• Opt out of analytics: clearing CREDO's site data in your browser removes the anonymous identifier, and enabling your browser's "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" setting will be honored.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to object to processing or to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Write to us and we will honor any right the law affords you.

CREDO is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Accounts are protected by encrypted authentication, and access to your conversations is restricted at the database level so that one member cannot read another's. Analytics records can be written only by our own server and read only by administrators. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise; if a breach affects your information we will notify you as the law requires.

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will make it plain within the app.
